Claudio Urrea was born in Santiago, Chile. He received his MSc.Eng. and D.Eng. degrees from the University of Santiago de Chile in 1999 and 2003, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Institut national polytechnique de Grenoble), France, in 2003. Dr. Urrea has been with the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Santiago de Chile since 1998. He founded and currently directs the Robotics Laboratory, where intelligent robotic systems are developed and investigated. At present, he is a Full Professor and serves as Director of the Instrumentation and Electronic Development Center, as well as Director of the Ph.D. Program in Engineering Sciences (Automation specialization) in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Santiago de Chile.
