Dr. Paulina Ormazabal is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Care Sciences at Universidad San Sebastián and an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INTA), Universidad de Chile. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (2012) and a degree in Biochemistry (2007) from the University of Santiago de Chile. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Nutrition and Obesity at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità in Rome, Italy (2014–2015).Dr. Ormazabal has held academic positions at multiple Chilean institutions, including Universidad de O’Higgins and Universidad Católica del Maule. Her research focuses on the interplay between obesity, insulin resistance, and chronic inflammation, with particular interest in the protective role of natural bioactive compounds derived from medicinal plants and traditional foods. She leads and collaborates on national and international research projects on metabolic dysfunction, endocrinology, and aging.She is a member of The Endocrine Society, the European Society of Endocrinology, the Chilean Society of Diabetology (SOCHIDIAB), the Chilean Society of Nutrition (SOCHINUT), and the Chilean Society of Endocrinology and Diabetes (SOCHED), where she currently serves on the Board of Directors. Among her recognitions are multiple grants and awards for international research presentations, including the ESE Basic Science Meeting Grant (2018, 2022).
