Professor at the Department of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development
/School of Agriculture/Polytechnic University of Castelo Branco, Portugal. She
completed her PhD studies in Forest Genetics at the Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå, Sweden, in 2001, with the thesis "Genetics of Pinus pinaster Aiton with Cytoplasmic and Nuclear Markers." She has published more
than 35 papers in various peer-reviewed journals and has been invited as a keynote speaker at several technical and scientific events. Her main research fields are
population genetics and the use of molecular markers in the study of plants’
dynamics and genetic structure. She is currently interested in linking genetic
