Author Biographies

Dr. Joonam Kim received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electronic, Electrical, and Computer Engineering from the University of Seoul in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) in 2017. He then held research positions at Nagoya University and served as an Assistant Professor at Tokyo University of Science. He is currently a researcher at the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), Japan. His research focuses on the development of electronic and energy nano-devices using functional and low-dimensional materials. Recently, he has been applying sensor technologies integrated with artificial intelligence to smart agriculture. His current projects include real-time detection systems for harvesters and the development of bio-sensor platforms for agriculture.
KIM Giryeon received his B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2019, and his M.E. degree in Mechanical Systems Engineering from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2021. He is currently a researcher at the Research Center for Agricultural Robotics, National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) in Tsukuba, Japan. His research interests include haptics and robotics.
YOSHITOSHI Rena received the B.E. degree in Applied Biological Science from Hiroshima University, Hiroshima, Japan, in 2011, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Development and Technology from Hiroshima University, Hiroshima, Japan, in 2013 and 2017, respectively. She is currently a researcher at the Research Center Core Module Unit for Agricultural Robotics, National Agriculture and Food Research Organization, Tsukuba, Japan. She is conducting research on improving the efficiency and labor-saving of crop harvesting and cultivation processes using ICT and AI technologies.
TOKUDA Kenichi received the M.Sc. degree from NARA Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, in 1995, and the Ph.D. degree from Kobe University, Japan, in 2009. After serving as an assistant professor at Kobe University in 2001-2004 and a lecturer at Wakayama University in 2004-2019, a Principal Researcher of Research Center of Agricultural Robotics, National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), Japan in 2019. His research interests include field robotics, image processing and mechanical system integration for agriculture. He is a member of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE), the Robot Society of Japan (RSJ), the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), the Institute of Systems, Control and Information Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
