Author Biographies

Kristina K. Childs, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Central Florida. She received her MA and PhD in Criminology from the University of South Florida. Her research interests focus on mental health prevention training for justice system professionals, risk and needs assessment in the juvenile justice system, and improving community and school-based responses to youth experiencing mental health crises. Her work has been funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), and the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), and has recently appeared in Psychiatric Services, Journal of School Violence, and Crime & Delinquency.
Jennifer H. Peck, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Central Florida. She received her MA and PhD in Criminology from the University of South Florida. Her research interests focus on racial and ethnic disparities in the juvenile justice system and the treatment of vulnerable populations in criminal justice settings. Her most recent research has appeared in Crime & Delinquency, Criminal Justice and Behavior, and Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice. She currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Crime and Justice.
Kim Gryglewicz, PhD, is a Full Professor in the School of Social Work and Co-Director of the Center for Behavioral Health Research and Training (CBHRT) at the University of Central Florida. She received her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and her PhD in Social Work from the University of South Florida. Her research interests center on the implementation and evaluation of mental health and suicide prevention programs, with an emphasis on community-based participatory research. She has secured over $22 million in funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) to support her work. Her recent publications have appeared in Administration and Policy in Mental Health and Mental Health Services Research, JMIR Mental Health Research, and Psychological Services.
