Dr. Wendy Lim is a Professor in the Department of Medicine,
Division of Hematology and Thromboembolism at McMaster University, Hamilton,
Canada. She received her Doctor of Medicine and completed her residency in
Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto, and completed her subspecialty
training in Hematology, a Research and Clinical Fellowship in Thromboembolism,
and a Master's degree in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University.
She is the Director of the Division of Hematology and Thromboembolism at
McMaster University and is a Consultant Hematologist with the Hamilton Regional
Laboratory Medicine Program. Her clinical practice focuses on non-malignant
hematologic disorders and venous thromboembolism. Her research interests
include anticoagulant use in special patient populations, optimal management of
iron deficiency anemia, utilizing systematic review and meta-analysis
methodology, and evidence review for guideline development.
Dr. Mark Crowther is a McMaster Distinguished University
Professor, Chair of the Department of Medicine at McMaster, a member of the
Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and holds
the Leo Pharma Chair in Thromboembolism Research at McMaster. He has an LLM from
Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. His research interests include
exploring ways to improve how we use our current anticoagulant drugs and manage
their complications, and providing guidance to clinicians on optimal management
of various hematological conditions. His clinical interests include general,
benign hematology with a special interest in preventing and treating blood
clotting complications.
Dr. Siraj Mithoowani graduated from medical school,
completed an Internal Medicine and Hematology residency, and a fellowship in
Benign Hematology and Thromboembolism at McMaster University. He earned a Master’s
degree in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University, Netherlands.
Dr. Mithoowani is dual-certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology by the
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of
Internal Medicine. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine,
McMaster University. He works as a clinical hematologist at St. Joseph’s
Healthcare Hamilton, where his practice is focused on non-malignant and
thrombotic blood disorders. His academic interests include clinical studies in
venous thromboembolism, knowledge translation, and postgraduate medical
education.
