Author Biographies

Resham Thapa-Parajuli is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Central Department of Economics, Tribhuvan University. Holding a PhD in International Development Economics from the University of Hull, UK, he teaches modules centred on and around quantitative development economics. His recently completed works are (a) the Impact of COVID-19 on the Nepalese Economy with PRI Nepal, (b) the Impact of the Ukraine–Russia War on the Nepalese Economy in partnership with IFPRI, and (c) Palika-level HDI calculation for Gandaki province in collaboration with the Gandaki Province Planning Commission. Currently, he is working on (a) Labour economics (Gender, Occupation, and Education level wage discrimination dynamics in Nepal), (b) Fiscal federalism (Local government effectiveness, resource curse, and fiscal discipline), and (c) Effectiveness of conservation areas (Poverty, Empowerment, and Forest regeneration). He is a member of the Economics Subject Committee, which oversees the economics curriculum university-wide.

Maya is passionate about subnational government planning and has experience as a member of the Province Planning and Policy Commission. She has taught economics and development at Tribhuvan University's Department of Governance and Anti-Corruption Studies for many years. Holding an MPhil in Economics from Tribhuvan University, she is pursuing her PhD in Fiscal Federalism and Local Government Efficiency. She aim to utilize her academic knowledge and practical skills to make a tangible impact on local development planning.
