Maider Eizmendi-Iraola holds degrees in Journalism and Social and Cultural Anthropology, a master's degree in Gender Equality, and a PhD in Social Communication from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Her research areas focus on issues such as gender and communication, social media, science communication, and gender inequalities in science. She is currently a professor in the Department of Journalism at the University of the Basque Country and teaches in the Master's program in Feminist and Gender Studies. She is a member of the Gureiker research group.
Dr. Simón Peña-Fernández has been a Full Professor at the Department of Journalism of the University of the Basque Country since 1999. He has taught mainly subjects related to journalistic writing, online journalism, and news design. Since 2004, he has
published 80 articles in academic journals and has presented a hundred papers and communications at national and international conferences. All these publications have always been associated with continued participation in around thirty research projects financed in competitive public calls, among them, eight European projects (Horizon 2020 and Erasmus +), five projects of the Spanish National Plan, in addition to those carried out for the UPV/EHU and the Basque Studies Society—Eusko Ikaskuntza, among others. He has also led ten relevant research and transfer contracts with public entities (the Basque Parliament, Euskal Irrati Telebista, and the Basque Institute for Women—Emakunde) and has participated in five educational innovation projects. At present, he is a member of the research group of the Basque university system Gureiker and the teaching innovation group KZberri.
Jordi Morales-i-Gras holds a degree in Sociology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, 2009), a Master's in Sociology from the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB, 2011), and a PhD in Sociology from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU, 2017). His areas of specialization include Computational Social Science, Social Network Analysis, and Artificial Intelligence. He is currently a professor at CámaraBilbao University Business School, teaching in the Master’s program in Social Research Models and Areas at UPV/EHU, in the Social Media and Digital Journalism and Communication master’s programs at UOC, and in the Postgraduate program in Data Analytics at the College of Professionals in Political Science and Sociology of Catalonia. In addition, he is the founder and partner of Eudan, a company specializing in the sociological analysis of Big Data.
