Dr. Bowen Yang received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Management from Chongqing Jiao Tong University in July 2012, his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Warwick in September 2013, and his Doctorate in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Warwick in January 2018. From October 2012 to May 2019, he served as a part-time Teaching Assistant at the University of Warwick, supporting undergraduate courses and laboratory sessions. Since October 2020, he has been serving as a Standing Committee Expert at Shanxi Ning Guli New Materials Co., Ltd., where he provides expert consultation on innovative construction materials, including material selection, construction techniques, and geotechnical performance evaluation. His main research interests lie in geotechnical engineering and advanced construction materials, with a particular focus on applications in marine and coastal infrastructure.
Mr. Kaiwei Xu received his Bachelor's Degree in Port, Waterway and Coastal Engineering from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology in September 2023. Since September 2023, he has been pursuing a Master’s Degree in Hydraulic Engineering at the School of Marine Science and Engineering, Shanghai Maritime University. His main research interests include the mechanical behavior and reinforcement technology of marine geomaterials. He has participated in several national and provincial scientific research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Natural Science Foundation. His recent work focuses on the mechanical properties of geogrid-reinforced marine coral sand–clay mixtures using 3D printing technology.
Zejin Wang is currently an undergraduate student majoring in Civil Engineering at Nanjing Tech University. His research focuses on the mechanical behavior of marine geotechnical materials and intelligent prediction modeling. He has participated in projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Natural Science Foundation, focusing on the time-dependent mechanical evolution and bearing performance of geogrid-reinforced calcareous sand under coupled temperature and humidity effects, as well as the interface behavior and foundation stability of geogrid-reinforced marine soft soil. His recent work compares machine learning and deep learning approaches for predicting the shear strength of marine sand–polymer interfaces under marine temperature conditions, and has been submitted to Frontiers for review.
Haodong Sun, M.Eng., is a Senior Engineer at Weifang Hydraulic Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineering from Shandong Agricultural University in 2014 and his Master’s degree in Port, Coastal and Offshore Engineering from Hohai University in 2017. He participated in the Structural Health Monitoring of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project, focusing on the dynamic response of bridge structures under environmental effects such as wind, temperature and seismic forces, contributing to real-time damage detection and predictive maintenance. Since 2017, his research has focused on the mechanical behavior of marine coral sand–clay mixtures (MCCM) under complex coastal conditions. He has conducted triaxial shear tests and developed reinforcement materials suited for high-salinity and high-moisture environments. His work has been applied in tidal sluice projects in Shandong Province. He holds multiple national patents, has published SCI/EI-indexed papers, and holds certifications as a First-Class Constructor and Consulting Engineer (Investment) in China.
Prof. Dr. Peng Cui received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Management from Shenyang Jianzhu University in July 2012, his Master's Degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering from Southeast University in March 2015, and his PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Southeast University in December 2019. From September 2017 to September 2018, he was a visiting scholar in Management Science and Engineering at the University of Maryland. From January 2015 to February 2016, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Architecture, School of Design and Environment, National University of Singapore. Since December 2019, he has been with the Department of Engineering Management, School of Civil Engineering, Nanjing Forestry University, where he now serves as a Professor. His primary research interests include urban resilience for disaster prevention and public health emergencies, carbon emissions and energy management in buildings and the construction industry, and occupational health risk management for construction workers. He has led a Jiangsu Natural Science Foundation project and participated in several national and international research initiatives. He has published extensively in high-impact journals such as Geotextiles and Geomembranes and Journal of Marine Science & Engineering.
Prof. Dr. Zhiming Chao received his Master's Degree in Port, Coast, and Offshore Engineering from Hohai University in June 2017 and his Doctorate in Engineering from the University of Warwick in June 2021. From July 2021 to October 2024, he served as an Associate Professor at the School of Marine Science and Engineering, Shanghai Maritime University; from December 2022 to December 2024, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Port, Coast and Offshore Engineering, Hohai University; from October 2024 to date, he has been a Professor at the School of Marine Science and Engineering, Shanghai Maritime University. His main research area is port and marine geotechnical engineering.
