Eddie was elected as an Academician for the European Academy of Sciences (Greece) and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Austria). He is a fellow (inaugural) of the National Academy of Technology (USA) and the AIMBE (USA), a fellow (life) of the ASME (USA), and a fellow of the IET (UK) and the IETI & APTSA (HK), and a distinguished fellow of the Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, [HK-CN]. Eddie has published 14 books and received the 2022 Alumni Highly Commended Award from the VC of Newcastle upon Tyne University, UK, for his contributions to the society and achievements in academia. He was named the winner of the 2024 2nd IETI (International Engineering and Technology Institute) Ramesh Agarwal Lifetime Achievement Award in Science, Engineering or Technology. This award honors individuals with lifetime achievements in research, education, and service towards the advancement of any discipline of engineering and technology. The award committee quoted that the reason for his winning this award is "for outstanding contributions in non-invasive, contactless, early detection of human health abnormality economically with infrared physics technology and advanced AI novel analysis" (https://www.ieti.net/news/detail.aspx?id=351).
