Nicole M. Nemeth is an associate professor and wildlife pathologist in the Pathology Department at the University of Georgia and head of the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study Research and Diagnostic Service. She was previously an assistant professor at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. Her DVM and PhD (Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology) are from Colorado State University (2004 and 2008, respectively), and she did an anatomic pathology residency at the University of Georgia (2010-13). She has spent 25 years studying mosquito-borne and other infectious diseases in
wild birds and other wildlife, including work with the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and U.S. Department of Agriculture-National Wildlife Research Center. Her goals are to contribute to our understanding of challenges to wildlife health and how we can mitigate them to conserve wildlife and other natural resources, especially wild birds.
