Prof. Dr. Hidemasa Bono is a professor at the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life, Hiroshima University. He graduated from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1995. He then moved to the Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University, where he obtained his M.Sc. (Biophysics) in 1997 and Ph.D. (Bioinformatics) in 2003. He is responsible for the development of basic technologies for genome editing, data analysis, and gene function analysis using bioinformatics. He has been working on data-driven approaches, particularly data analysis using public databases, and is conducting research on digital breeding through the pathway design of metabolic networks under the BioDX project.
