Dr. Irina Stanciu is a Scientific Researcher at the Romanian National Institute for Research and Development on Marine Geology and Geo-ecology – GeoEcoMar. Her main research interests are, among others, the geology and tectonics of Romania and the Black Sea, neotectonics (especially in the Moesian Platform and the Western Black Sea coastal zone), remote sensing and present-day coastal geomorphological changes. She holds a PhD in Geology and Geophysics (2021), a Master’s degree in Applied Geophysics (2016) - both from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, Bucharest, Romania - as well as a Master’s degree in Applied Geography (2007) from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Geography, Bucharest, Romania. Dr. Stanciu is currently involved in various European scientific research projects focused on the Black Sea and its coastal area.
