Jon Mills is Professor of Geomatic Engineering in Newcastle University's School of Engineering, where he is the Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Geospatial Systems. His professional achievements include being named a Fellow of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) in 2022, following previous leadership roles as an elected ISPRS Council Member (2012–2016), President of ISPRS Technical Commission V (2008–2012), and Chair of ISPRS Working Group I/4 (2004–2008). From 2017 to 2023, he chaired Commission 1 for EuroSDR (European Spatial Data Research). His extensive body of work includes over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and professional publications, with his research findings receiving coverage in both national and international media outlets. His research focuses on developing optimized geospatial solutions for engineering applications, including measurement, mapping, monitoring, and model parameterization.
