Fernando de Almeida Costa Oliveira (F.A. Costa Oliveira) is a Principal Researcher with habilitation at the Unit of Materials for Energy, National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG), Portugal. He holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon (1986), an MSc in Research in Materials from the University of Leeds (1989), and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Delft University of Technology (1992).
Currently, he coordinates research on advanced materials for renewable energy applications at LNEG and is also an Invited Professor at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL), Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. His research interests include the processing and thermomechanical characterization of technical ceramic materials for concentrated solar power systems, green hydrogen production via thermochemical cycles, and fire-resistant glasses for modular building systems. He has co-authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications and holds two patents. He is a senior member of the Portuguese Materials Society (SPM) and the Portuguese Engineering Council (OE).
