Prof. Dr. Renato Alberto Sinico currently works as senior consultant at IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital in Milano, Italy. Previously, he worked as an Associate Professor and as Director of the Postgraduate Medical School in Nephrology at the School of Medicine and Surgery, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. He holds the medical doctor degree, magna cum laude, at the State University of Milan in 1977, the Postgraduate degree, magna cum laude, in Nephrology (State University of Milan, 1980), and the Postgraduate degree, magna cum laude, in Clinical Immunology (State University of Milan, 1983). From 1980 to 1989, he worked as a clinical assistant at the Department of Nephrology, Ospedale San Carlo Borromeo, Milano, Italy, then as a consultant from 1989 to 1998. From 1998 to 2004, he took the position as a consultant in Nephrology and in Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology. From January 2007 to June 2008, he was the Head of Renal Unit, Department of Medicine, Azienda Ospedaliera Ospedale San Carlo Borromeo, Milano, Italy. Since January 2004, he has been the head of the Clinical Immunology Unit. He does research in Clinical Immunology, Nephrology, and Rheumatology and, in particular, in ANCA-associated vasculitis, lupus nephritis, and membranous nephropathy.

Prof. Roberto Caporali is the Director of the Department of Rheumatology and Medical Sciences, Director of the Complex Operating Unit of the Rheumatology Clinic, and the Interim Director of the Complex Operating Unit of Pediatric Clinical Rheumatology. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pavia in 1985 with a grade of 110 cum laude/110, specialized in Internal Medicine at the University of Pavia in 1990 with a grade of 50/50 cum laude, and specialized in Rheumatology at the University of Milan in 1994 with a grade of 70/70 cum laude. He has multi-year experience in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune rheumatological diseases, in particular in the early diagnosis and therapy of rheumatoid arthritis and seronegative polyarthritis. He holds other positions, like Full Professor of Rheumatology, Department of Clinical and Community Sciences, University of Milan, Director of the School of Specialization in Rheumatology, University of Milan, Secretary to the Presidency, Italian Society of Rheumatology, and Member of the EULAR International Committee for the drafting of recommendations for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The main research areas concern the clinic and therapy of rheumatoid arthritis and seronegative spondyloarthritis, with particular attention to the search for prognostic factors and biomarkers.
