Prof. Dr. Juan A. Ramos-Guivar is an
Associate Professor at the National University of San Marcos-UNMSM, Lima, Peru.
His expertise involves synthesizing and functionalizing metal-oxide and
magnetic nanoparticles (ferrofluid-based and nanoadsorbent powders) by
different physical, chemical, and biosynthesis routes for applications in
biomedicine, biosensing, and drug delivery processes; energy storage; and
environmental water bio-remediation processes, as well as expertise in
nanomagnetism, spectroscopic, nanocharacterization techniques,
nanoecotoxicological performance, water treatment, and management. He is the
leader of the research group NANOTECH at UNMSM, Lima, Peru, with a team of 20
people, including final-year undergraduates, master's, and PhD students. He is
also an invited full member of the Sigma Xi Society and the Magnetism
Latinoamerican Society (ALMA). And he holds an invention patent granted by
Indecopi, Peru, for the development of magnetic nanoadsorbents to remediate
lead from water for human consumption.
