Sabrina Mastroianni received her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (Honors), specializing in Neuroscience and Psychology, from the University of Guelph in 2022, and is now pursuing her Doctor of Medicine at Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, McMaster University (Class of 2026). She is involved in research in neonatology, epilepsy, pediatric environmental health, and transient ischemic attack/stroke neurology.
Anagha
Vinod received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from McMaster
University in 2023, and is now pursuing a Master in Psychology. Her
research topics mainly include: Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy
(fNIRS), Early Sensory Processing, Infant Beat Perception,
Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), and Infant Neurodevelopment.
Heather
Johnson is a Clinical Research Nurse and Research Coordinator at the
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at McMaster Children’s Hospital in
Hamilton, Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
from Queen’s University and a Neonatal Nursing Advanced Specialty
Certificate from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).With
over 20 years of experience as a neonatal nurse, Heather has extensive
clinical expertise in caring for critically ill newborns. She has
expanded her focus to include neonatal research coordination, managing
multiple clinical trials focused on neonatal outcomes, medication
safety, and innovations in care for preterm infants.She is dedicated to advancing neonatal care through evidence-based practice and collaborative research.

Lehana Thabane is a Vice President of Research at St Joseph’s
Healthcare—Hamilton; Scientific Director of the Research Institute at St
Joseph’s Healthcare; Professor of Biostatistics and Former Interim
Chair/Associate Chair of the Department of Health Research Methods,
Evidence, and Impact; Associate Member of the Departments of Pediatrics,
Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry and Behavioral
Neurosciences, and Anesthesia, School of Nursing, and School of
Rehabilitation Science, in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at
McMaster University. He is also the Director of Biostatistics at St.
Joseph’s Healthcare—Hamilton. His international reputation has led him
to be honoured by many professional societies. He is the Editor-in-Chief
of the journal Pilot and Feasibility Studies, and he is a member of the
editorial board for many journals including Trials, and Clinical
Trials. As a senior biostatistician and methodologist, he has led many
clinical trials and co-authored about 900 peer-reviewed manuscripts
leading to significant contributions and transformation of science,
healthcare, and delivery of care in many clinical areas. Having mentored
over 200 graduate students and junior faculty, Dr. Thabane has won
several teaching and mentorship awards for his commitment to building
capacity in health research and nurturing the next generation of
researchers.
Qiyin
Fang is a professor of Engineering Physics at McMaster University,
where he held the Canada Research Chair in Biophotonics from 2005-2016.
He is a member of the McMaster School of Biomedical Engineering and an
associate member of several other programs at McMaster including the
Neuroscience graduate program. Dr. Fang is an elected fellow of the
International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). Dr. Fang's
current research interests include multimodality sensing and imaging
technologies for biomedical applications, e.g., optical biopsy,
wide-field imaging, endoscopy, microscopy,
point-of-care/in-home/wearable sensing systems, distributed
environmental sensing, machine vision, and aging-in-place.
