Gabriella Pessi is a group leader at the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at the University of Zürich. She received her Federal Diploma in Science from the ETH in Zürich, and completed her Ph.D. at the Department of Microbiology, University of Lausanne with Prof. Dieter Haas. Gabriella Pessi is a specialist in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. Her team works on Rhizobial Symbiosis and applies functional genomics techniques such as RNA-seq, proteomics, metabolomics and Tn-sequencing to elucidate the genetic determinants for competitiveness and biocontrol activities of several rhizobial strains. She has published 70 scientific international papers with an h- index of 38 (Google scholar, June 26th 2025).
