Author Biographies

Dr. Salar Ali earned his Ph.D. through the CAS-TWAS President’s Fellowship Programme at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. In 2015, he stood as the sole candidate from Gilgit-Baltistan for this prestigious program. His exceptional academic journey led to him being recognized as the best international student by the Nanjing Government for the year 2017-18. In his six years of research experience, Dr. Salar Ali has significantly contributed to the fields of conservation, sustainable management, and watershed management in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. His impactful roles in renowned organizations like the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Gilgit-Baltistan Environmental Protection Agency (GB-EPA), German Development Cooperation (GTZ), and the Programme for Mountain Areas Conservation (PMAC) culminated in the successful completion of five projects, including the SRGP (HEC project). Adding to his academic achievements, Dr. Salar Ali has dedicated the past three years to lecturing at Karakoram International University. Following this, he spent four years as an Assistant Professor at the University of Baltistan, Skardu. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Environmental at the University of Baltistan, Skardu.

Dr. Atta Rasool is a highly accomplished environmental geochemist with a PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His research expertise includes heavy metal contamination, microbial interactions, hydrogeochemistry, and environmental risk assessment. He has published over 150 impact factor research articles with more than 3000 citations, and has contributed to several international book chapters. Dr. Rasool has held academic and research positions in Pakistan, Australia, and the Czech Republic. He has extensive experience in laboratory techniques such as ICP-MS, SEM/EDS, and EXAFS spectroscopy, along with advanced geochemical modeling. He has participated in research projects funded by the European Union, Australian Research Council, and Chinese Academy of Sciences. As a peer reviewer for reputed journals and presenter at numerous international conferences, Dr. Rasool has established a strong academic presence globally. His work focuses on addressing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable solutions for soil and water contamination challenges.
