Dr. Gregory L Boyer is an Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry at the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin Department of Biochemistry in 1980 working on the structure of the gonyautoxins in shellfish and was a Post-doctoral Investigator, Michigan State University (1980–1982) and University of British Columbia (1982–1985). His research interests are in biologically active natural products produced by algae. This includes toxins produced by dinoflagellates and cyanobacteria (blue-green algae), as well as allelopathic compounds and siderophores.
Dr. Cathleen J Hapeman is a research chemist at the USDA Agricultural Research Service. She received a B.S. degree in 1981 and a Ph.D. degree in 1986 from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry from University of Maryland. Her research interests are investigating processes that affect air and water quality as a function of land use and agricultural practice, assessing risk potential of agricultural pollutants to nearby ecosystems at landscape and regional scales, and examining the effectiveness of mitigation strategies and conservation practices to minimize the agricultural footprint on natural resources.
