Prof. Monika Konaklieva is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at an American university. She
received an M.S. in Pharmacy from the State University Medical Academy, and Chemistry from the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Sofia, Bulgaria, and a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo (1997). Her research involves the design, synthesis, and evaluation of biologically active agents. Current projects focus on exploring different approaches for delaying microbial resistance including fragment-based structure-activity studies aimed at improving the therapeutic efficacy of lead compounds. She is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, The Scientific Research Honor Society Sigma-Xi, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
