Prof. Benoit P Gilbert is a Professor at the School of Engineering and Built Environment-Civil and Environmental Engineering, Griffith University. He holds a PhD in structural engineering from the University of Sydney. He joined Griffith University as a Lecturer in 2010 and teaches structural engineering. He is an Australian Standard Committee member for TM-010 “Timber Structures and Framing” and BD-062 “Steel Storage Racking”. He is also a member of the Cities Research Institute. His research interests include timber structures, especially in manufacturing Engineered Wood Products from undervalued resources, as well as innovative timber products, the dynamic behaviour of timber connections, and progressive collapse.
Prof. Dr. Hong Guan is a Professor of Civil Engineering in the School of Engineering and Built Environment at Griffith University's Gold Coast campus. She holds a PhD in Structural Mechanics from Griffith University (1997). She is the research leader of the “Building Science and Construction Innovation” group within Griffith’s Cities Research Institute. Prof. Guan is an appointed member of the Australian Research Council (ARC) College of Experts. She also serves as a Founding Steering Committee and Executive Committee Member of the Australian Network of Structural Health Monitoring (ANSHM), the Associate Editor of the Australian Journal of Structural Engineering, and International Steering Committee Member of the East-Asia Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction (EASEC). Her research has been supported by over AUD 12.9M in funding from the ARC, industry partners, government bodies, and the university. Her current research focuses on the progressive collapse resistance capacities of concrete flat plate structures and mass timber frame buildings. She is internationally recognised as among the world's top 2% scientists based on citations (Elsevier BV), and is among the world’s top ten most active researchers in the disproportionate/progressive collapse research of concrete structures (Scopus). She has authored/co-authored over 370 publications, including 2 authored books by Springer, 170 refereed journal papers, and over 190 refereed conference papers.
Prof. Dr. Tuan Ngo is a Professor in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, University of Melbourne. He is the Research Program Leader of the Building 4.0 CRC, a leading Collaborative Research Centre that aims to transform the building industry in Australia. He co-founded the centre and led the research portfolio as the Research Director in 2020–2021. He currently leads the International Research Network for Decarbonising the Building Industry (DBI), which was funded by the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water in 2023. He led the bid to establish the ARC Training Centre for the Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing (ARC-CAMPH), where he worked as the Research Director between 2015 and 2019. He was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) in 2023. He received the Scopus Research Award in 2022 and the Award for Excellence in Concrete by the Concrete Institute of Australia—Vic Branch in 2017 and 2023. He is the two-time winner of the University of Melbourne Excellence Award for Industry-Engaged Research (2017 and 2020). He is a member of the ARC College of Experts and the European Research Council (ERC) Expert Panel for Physical Sciences and Engineering. His research expertise includes prefabricated modular buildings, extreme loadings, sustainable materials and low-carbon technologies, composite materials, and energy storage.
