Elena Vila Cortavitarte holds a PhD from the University of La Laguna,
Spain, a Master's degree in healthcare research at the University
of Cantabria, Spain, and is a midwife working for the Canarian Health Service. She is a novel
researcher interested in the field of “Maternal-Child Health and Adolescent
Health”. She has experience in youth consultation and
affective–sexual education in educational centers.
José Miguel Díaz-Gómez holds a PhD from the University of La Laguna, Spain, where he is currently an Associate Professor.
He has taught in the Psychology degree program and in various postgraduate
programs. He has served as Director of the Department of Cognitive Psychology
and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Psychology. His research has focused mainly on
two areas. The first is text comprehension (the semantic representation of its
physical and emotional content). The second is the motivational components of behavior,
specifically (a) the application of Self-Determination Theory (Deci and Ryan)
to educational contexts and (b) the exploration of the approach/avoidance
nature of interpersonal motivation and its neurophysiological correlates.
N. Marta Díaz-Gómez, Pediatrician with accreditation in Adolescent Medicine, holds
a PhD from the University of La Laguna, (ULL) Spain, where she is currently an Honorary
Professor. She has taught in the Nursing degree program and in various
postgraduate programs. She has served as Director of the Department of Nursing, Vice
Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Coordinator of the International
Mobility Program, Member of the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree in
Research, Management, and Quality of Health Care, Academic Director of the
Doctorate Program in Medical Sciences of the ULL, and Guarantor Professor of the
Research Line "Maternal and Child Health and Adolescent Health" in the
Doctorate Program in Health Sciences of the ULL. She is a member of the board of
directors of several scientific societies (the Canarian Society of Pediatrics,
the Spanish Association of Pediatric Nursing, the Spanish Society for Research in
Pediatric Nutrition and Feeding, and the Spanish Breastfeeding Association). Her
research has focused mainly on nutrition, child growth and health,
breastfeeding, and adolescent health.
