Rubem C.A. Guedes received his MD degree in Human Medicine from the Federal University of Pernambuco State in 1971. He received his Master's degree in Neurobiology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro State in 1975 and his PhD (Neurobology) from the University of Göttingen, Germany. He works as Full Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco State, Brazil. He has had postdoctoral stays at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemical Chemistry (Göttingen/Germany), the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Iizuka/Japan), and the University of Oxford (Oxford/UK). His research topics mainly include experimental nutrition and neurophysiology, cortical spreading depression, behavior, and immunohystochemical analysis.
