Kristín Briem is a professor at the Department of Physical Therapy,
Faculty of Medicine. She holds a master’s degree in orthopaedic physical
therapy from the University of St. Augustine (2002) and a PhD in human movement
sciences from the University of Delaware (2008). Her research methods have
primarily focused on using 3D biomechanical analysis, EMG, and ultrasound
imaging to identify avenues of intervention within orthopaedics (knee injury,
osteoarthritis). Her areas of research include musculoskeletal dysfunction resulting
from orthopaedic injury/dysfunction and areas relating to the research and
development of lower limb prostheses to improve the function of lower limb
amputees.
