Melina Crettaz-Minaglia is a postdoctoral researcher at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), Spain, working within the WARMSIZE project on climate-driven changes in freshwater ecosystems. She holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the National University of La Plata (UNLP), Argentina, where she investigated the effects of multifactorial environmental conditions on the growth and toxin production of cyanobacteria, as well as the bioremoval of microcystins by native microbial communities. After completing her Ph.D., she held a postdoctoral fellowship at Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento, focusing on periphytic responses to temperature and nutrient dynamics. Her research combines experimental approaches and ecological modeling to explore the effects of multiple stressors, such as heat waves and contaminants, on freshwater microbial communities. At IMDEA Water Institute, she contributed to mesocosm experiments on ecological processes, trophic interactions, and energy flows. Dr. Crettaz-Minaglia is the author of several peer-reviewed publications in aquatic ecology and environmental sciences.
