Marie-Christine Firpo is a Research Director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), affiliated with the Laboratoire de Physique des Plasmas, École Polytechnique (France), where she is part of the magnetic confinement fusion group. A graduate of École Normale Supérieure de Cachan, she earned bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Orsay, and a PhD (1999) in Physics from the University of Provence. She was a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow in Florence and subsequently served as a post-doctoral associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research areas include long-range systems, statistical physics, nonlinear dynamics and chaos, with a primary focus on hot plasma physics for fusion applications.
