Prof. Francesco Grimaccia received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy, in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano. His main research interests are related to soft computing technique development and application in different fields, such as wireless sensor networks, photovoltaics, and other energy-harvesting devices. He is a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and the International Society for Optics and Photonics and is the President of the Italian Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Information, and Telecommunications Federation Young Engineers Society.
