Prof. Konecny is the Professor of Cartography and Geoinformatics at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. He was/is a Guest Professor of  the universities: The Chinese one in Hong Kong, The Henan one, Kaifeng, the Shenzhen University, the Nanjing Normal, the Wuhan University, the Chinese Petroleum University, Qingdao, the  Vienna University, the EKTU, Kamenogorsk, Kazachstan, and Constantine the Philosopher University of Nitr. Prof. He took the leadership in many international bodies, incl. the Commission on Cartography on EW and CM in ICA, the Vice-President and Acting President of the ISDE, and Academician and Vice-President of the IEAS. He is a co-author (with K. Rais) of the first GIS book in the World (1985). In recent years, he has published or edited books and special international scientific journal issues, e.g., Thematic Cartography for the Society and Geographic Information and Cartography for Risk and Crisis Management; Towards Better Solutions. Both books have published in Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography, Springer Verlag (2014 resp. 2010), both with co-authors T. Bandrova and S. Zlatanova; Dynamic Geovisualization in Crises Management (2011), Geoinformation Support for Flood Management in China and the Czech Republic. His research interests are cartography and geoinformatics' role in early warning and crisis management in the era of big data, adaptive and context cartography, VGI and VGE, AI, and Digital Twins.
