Joaquim Jorge is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, where he teaches Computer Graphics, Human–Computer Interaction, Extended Reality, and other topics. He earned his PhD in Visual Languages from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has received the IFIP Silver Core and IEEE Golden Core Awards, along with other honors for his contributions to visual computing. He is an ACM Distinguished Member and Speaker, as well as an IEEE Distinguished Visitor. He has led European and national projects on sketch-based modeling, medical visualization, and multimodal interaction. He has published over 400 papers in refereed journals and at international conferences. He serves as the editor-in-chief of the Computers & Graphics journal (Elsevier). His research interests encompass Visual Computing, Multimodal User Interfaces, Medical Applications, and Sketch-Based Modeling. He is a Fellow of both Eurographics and the IEEE.
