Dr. Ricki Levi is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean for International Affairs at the Jindal School of Environment & Sustainability (JSES), O.P. Jindal Global University, India. She earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Environmental Studies at the Porter School of the Environment and Earth Sciences, Tel Aviv University. Her dissertation, “The Environmental Gandhi”, examines the work of Indian environmental thinkers and activists—such as Anupam Mishra, Vandana Shiva, and Rajni Bakshi—as contemporary practical interpretations of Gandhian environmental philosophy. In 2014, she conducted fieldwork in India, interviewing prominent environmental scholars and activists, and exploring traditional water systems across the country. She also interned at Navdanya’s Bija Vidyapeeth, Vandana Shiva’s research center and ecological farm in Dehradun. Her research has been presented at international conferences in Israel, India, Germany, and Ireland, and has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals. Her academic interests include comparative philosophy, environmental ethics (Western and Indian traditions), urban sustainability, post-capitalism and climate change, and sustainable production and consumption. During the 2024–2025 academic year, she was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Asian Studies, University of Haifa.
