Prof. Dr. Masatoshi Kudo studied Medicine at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine and graduated in 1987. Following this, he completed his clinical and research fellowships at the University of California Davis Medical Center in the USA and at Kyoto University Graduate
School of Medicine, where he received his PhD degree in Medical Science.
Professor Kudo has been Professor and Chairman of the Department of
Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Kindai University Faculty of Medicine since
1999 and is an Executive Board Member of Kindai University. He serves as an Executive Council Board Member for the Japan Liver Cancer Association (JLCA), as Chairman of the Nationwide Survey Committee of the JLCA, and as a representative of the JLCA Head Office. Professor Kudo is also a past President of the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine (JSUM) (2014–2020), past President of the Asia Pacific Primary Liver Cancer Association (APPLE) (2015–2017), past President of WFUMB (2011–2013), and past President of AFSUMB (2016–2018). He also serves as editor-in-chief of LIVER CANCER (Karger) (IF = 11.6). He was consecutively awarded the “Highly Cited Researchers” award in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 by Clarivate Analytics in the field of “Clinical Medicine” and was also awarded the 2024 Highly Ranked Scholar, which is given to the world's top 0.05% researchers by Scholar GPS (Meta Analytics).
