Ijaz Ahmad completed his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Medicine, Kindai University, Japan, as a recipient of the prestigious MEXT Scholarship. His research focuses on the role of platelets in two specific conditions: Theiler's Murine Encephalomyelitis Virus-Induced Demyelinating Disease (TMEV-IDD) and myocarditis. He also studied gut microbiota alterations in a viral model of multiple sclerosis, contributing to a deeper understanding of host-microbiota interactions in neuroinflammation. Additionally, he explores the potential of utilizing platelets as carriers for targeted drug delivery to sites of infection, particularly for the effective delivery of therapeutic drugs.
Ikuo Tsunoda MD, PhD is Professor and Chair at the Department of Microbiology, Kindai University Faculty of Medicine, Osaka, Japan. He completed his PhD studies in Neuropathology at Tohoku University, Sendai Japan, and served as Assistant Professor at University of Utah and Associate Professor at Louisiana State University Health Science Center, Shreveport, Louisiana, USA. He recently led the projects, including microbiome and transcriptome analyses of a viral model (Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus, TMEV) and an autoimmune model (experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, EAE) of multiple sclerosis, and factor analysis of Guillain Barre syndrome. He has published 117 papers in various journals, and serves as a Councilor for Japanese
Society for Neuroimmunology, Japanese Society for Neuroinfectious Diseases, Japan Society for Virology , and Japanese Society of Pathophysiology. His teaching disciplines include General Virology, Neuroimmunology, and NeuroVirology, and his interests include bioinformatics, myocarditis, animal models, and neurotropic viruses.
