Eduardo Andrés-León holds a degree and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He began his research career in bioinformatics under the mentorship of Prof. Alfonso Valencia, working within his team at the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB), the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (ISCIII-INB), and the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO). In 2013, he joined the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBIS) as head of the bioinformatics unit within the Computational Biology group led by Dr. Ana M. Rojas. Since 2015, he has been working at the Institute of Parasitology and Biomedicine “López-Neyra” (IPBLN) under the supervision of Dr. Javier Martín. Throughout his research career, Dr. Andrés-León has focused on elucidating the role of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in human diseases, with a particular emphasis on microRNAs (miRNAs) involved in host–parasite interactions. His work integrates computational and systems biology approaches to unravel the regulatory networks driven by ncRNAs in parasitic infections. Additionally, he has contributed to the development and application of artificial intelligence techniques for the analysis of high-throughput biomedical data, particularly in the study of complex diseases. His research aims to leverage bioinformatics and AI-driven methodologies to advance our understanding of disease mechanisms and identify novel therapeutic targets.
