Author Biographies

Dr. Christian Reintjes is a German educational scientist and professor of school pedagogy (W3 since 2023) at the University of Osnabrück. He also holds the Chair for Empirical Research on Schools and Instruction in the Department of Education and Cultural Sciences (University of Osnabrück). He graduated from the Steinbart-Gymnasium in Duisburg in 1995, studied German and educational sciences for teacher training at the University of Duisburg-Essen, and received his doctorate from the University of Osnabrück in 2006. After positions at Duisburg-Essen and Bochum, including with Gabriele Bellenberg, he was appointed Professor of Profession Research and Professionalization Management, Co-Head (from 2016 Head) of the Institute for Secondary Education I & II, and a member of the university’s management team at the University of Teacher Education Northwestern Switzerland in 2013. In 2018, he moved to the University of Osnabrück as a W2 Professor of School Pedagogy with a focus on empirical school and instructional research. His research focuses on teacher professionalism, school and instruction research, school and classroom development, digitalization and school development, and the analysis of professional actions within multi-level school systems. He pursues theory-driven and theory-testing approaches and emphasizes the transfer of research findings into educational practice and policymaking.
