Prof. Yuan Jianhua graduated from Hunan First Normal University in 1996. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Science, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He is currently the Vice Dean of the School of Science at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Mathematics and Information Networks of the Ministry of Education (Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications), Director of the Chinese Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Director of the Beijing Mathematical Society, and Director of the Beijing Society of Computational Mathematics. His main research areas are finite element methods, numerical solutions of differential equations, optimization algorithms and engineering applications. He has won the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, the Beijing University "Quality Undergraduate Textbooks and Courseware", the first prize in the professor group of the Beijing University Mathematics Course Teaching Innovation Demonstration and Exchange Activity, and the Beijing Operations Research Society Young Outstanding Paper Award.
