Cristina Giatti Marques de Souza obtained a degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Londrina (1992), a specialisation in Applied Biochemistry, also from UEL (1994), a Master's degree (1996) and a PhD (2003) in Biological Sciences (Cellular and Molecular Biology) from the State University of Maringá. She is currently Associate Professor C and was Coordinator of the undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at UEM (2016–2020). She has experience in the field of biochemistry and physiology of filamentous fungi, with a focus on industrial and fermentation microbiology, working mainly on the following topics: production, purification and characterisation of enzymes of industrial interest; bioremediation of industrial dyes and pharmaceuticals; use of agro-industrial wastes for the production of edible mushrooms, biomass and enzymes from agro-industrial wastes; evaluation of antioxidant activity, cytotoxic and antimicrobial compounds of basidiomycetes.
