Antonia Ratti has been the Supervisor of the Laboratory of Neuroscience since 2003. She graduated in Biology at the University of Milan and has significant experience in molecular biology and genetics. From 1994 to 2003, she worked at Ospedale Policlinico on several projects on positional cloning and gene hunting. In 1999, she received her Ph.D. in Biotechnological Applications (SAB), University of Milan, and in 2000, she was a Visiting Scientist at the Children’s Hospital, Philadelphia, U.S. From 2005 to 2018, she was Assistant Professor of Neurology, University of Milan Medical School. Since 2019, she has been Associate Professor of Medical Genetics, University of Milan Medical School at Istituto Auxologico Italiano. Since 2004, her research activity has been focused on the study of the genetic architecture of familial and sporadic ALS and on the physiopathologic bases of ALS associated with defects in RNA-binding proteins and RNA metabolism.
Federico Verde, MD. He graduated in Medicine in 2011 from the Università degli Studi di Milano, where he obtained a specialization in Neurology in 2017 with a thesis on the measurement of serum neurofilament light chain with Simoa technology for the diagnosis of ALS, resulting from research conducted as a guest scientist in the Laboratory of Neurochemistry of the University of Ulm, Germany (July 2016–July 2017). He is a Fellow of the European Board of Neurology and a member of the Italian Society of Neurology (SIN), the Italian Association for Dementias (SINdem), and the international CSF Society. He holds a CSF Certificate (Liquor-Zertifikat) from the German Society of CSF Diagnostics and Clinical Neurochemistry (DGLN). His main clinical and research areas of interest are neurodegenerative diseases, particularly dementias and ALS, and neurochemical biomarkers. He is
in charge of the outpatient dementia clinic at IRCCS Istituto Auxologico Italiano, Milan.
