Serafeim-Chrysovalantis Kotoulas is a Medical Doctor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece. He studied medicine at Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki (2005–2011) and got a post-graduate degree in “Medical Research Methodology” from the same university (2014–2016). He has worked as a military doctor in the Greek Army (2011–2012) and as a general practitioner (2013–2014). He has completed the specialty of Pulmonary Medicine (2014–2019), and he has worked as a consultant in Respiratory Medicine ever since. His research interests include asthma, smoking cessation, electronic cigarettes, sleep medicine, and intensive care medicine. He has also successfully passed the ERS HERMES Exams in 2019. He has won an award of 5000 Euros for his Ph.D. research protocol and another award of the same amount for three months of training in sleep medicine which he completed in the summer of 2019.
Dr. Athanasia Pataka is an Associate Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Sleep Disorders at the School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She received her Ph.D. in the Department of Pneumonology of G. Papanikolaou, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the thesis entitled “Energy cost of ventilation in COPD patients”. She was a Research Fellow in the Department of Sleep Medicine in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Scotland to specialise in Sleep Disorders in 2008–2009.
