Mamede
de Carvalho is a Full Professor of Physiology at the Lisbon School of Medicine
(University of Lisbon), where he also directs the Institute of Physiology. He
is a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist and leads a research group
dedicated to ALS. He has been the head of the ALS clinic in Lisbon for over 30
years. He has received the Forbes Norris Prize for his work on ALS. He has
more than 500 papers published in the international literature, mostly on ALS and
clinical neurophysiology.
