Author Biographies

Florin Covaciu graduated from the Faculty of Automation, Petru Maior University of Târgu-Mureş in 2009 and obtained a Master’s degree in industrial Processes Automation Control System, Petru Maior University of Târgu-Mureş in 2011. He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering Domain at the Technical University of Cluj—Napoca in 2015. Between October 2016 and February 2021, he lectured at the Design Engineering and Robotics Department of the Faculty of Machine Building, Technical University of Cluj—Napoca, Romania. Currently, he is an associate professor at the Design Engineering and Robotics Department, Faculty of Industrial Engineering, Robotics and Production Management, Technical University of Cluj—Napoca, Romania. At the Technical University of Cluj—Napoca, he was teaching more disciplines from the area of Engineering, like activities in Robotics; Computer Programming; CNC; and Machines, Robots, and Equipment for Flexible Manufacturing Systems. His research interests focus on virtual reality, robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and educational software.

Doina Pisla is currently the Director of the Council for University Doctoral Studies at the University of Cluj—Napoca, Romania, and the Director of the Research Center for Robots Simulation and Testing—CESTER at the same university. She obtained her PhD at the Technical University of Cluj—Napoca in 1997. Following an academic career, she became a full professor at the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering in 2005, teaching lectures in the modeling and simulation of robots and medical robotics. Her research activity is focused mainly in the field of robotics and mechatronics, with emphasis on the kinematics and dynamics of parallel robots, the development of innovative medical robots, and reconfigurable structures. She has been the director or key member of more than 50 international and national projects. In the meanwhile, she has served on boards and program committees of various international conferences and congresses and is currently a member of the Technical Committee for Computational Kinematics and Biomechanical Engineering of IFToMM.
