Begoña Blandón González is the Director of the Department of Architectural Constructions I at the University of Seville and a Professor teaching the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, the Master’s in City and Sustainable Architecture, and the Master’s in Building Expertise and Rehabilitation at the Higher Technical School of Architecture. She earned her PhD in 2003, focusing her teaching, technical expertise, and research on the environmental evaluation of construction models, waste management, and reuse opportunities. She has actively participated in conferences and contributed to disseminating knowledge about sustainable construction. Her work has been recognized internationally, including being a finalist in the XV Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism for her article “The Revaluation of Uninhabited Popular Patrimony under Environmental and Sustainability Parameters”, published in Sustainability. She has been a member of international scientific committees and organizations in her field. Her research trajectory includes membership in the TEP 125 research group on new materials and construction procedures until 2008, the PAIDI TEP 954-InFact group until 2023, and the current TEP 206 group: Sustainable Architecture, Technology, and Heritage. Since 2018, she has coordinated and trained in the FIDOP program, emphasizing innovative teaching models for construction, rehabilitation, and sustainable techniques to enhance learning outcomes.
Esperanza Conradi Galnares is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architectural Constructions I, at the University of Seville. She completed her PhD in Architecture at the same institution in 2002, supported by an FPI grant from the Andalusian Department of Education. Since then, she has held various academic positions, including full-time Associate Professor and, since 2006, as a tenured Collaborating Professor. Her academic contributions include teaching in the Master’s Program on Building Expertise and Repair at the University of Seville since 2003. She has supervised doctoral theses, such as Marco Antonio Sánchez Burgo's in 2013 and the ongoing co-supervised thesis with the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas on architectural challenges in the Ahome municipality. As a researcher, she has participated in several I+D+I projects, including the development of a tool to minimize construction and demolition waste in housing projects (2013). She has published extensively in prestigious journals and contributed to public- and private-sector initiatives. Alongside her academic career, she has been a partner at Villaverde Arquitectos e Ingenieros S.L.P. since 1997.
Paula Porras Pereira is an Architect from the University of Seville and currently serves as a municipal architect in the
municipality of Dos Hermanas. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Fundamentals of Architecture in 2020 and her master's in Architecture in 2022 from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Seville. Additionally, she
earned a master’s in BIM Management for Project Management and Lean Construction from the University of Pablo de Olavide. From 2022 to 2024, Paula was an Assistant Researcher in the Department of Building Construction I at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Seville, contributing to the ERASMUS+ NanOER project. Her academic experience includes assisting in the Department of Building Construction I and conducting research at Umeå University on eco-efficient emergency housing solutions in Sweden, Greece, and Turkey. Her professional and academic focus integrates sustainable construction, innovative methodologies, and municipal architectural development.
Pilar Mercader-Moyano is a PhD Architect and Professor in the Department of Building Construction I at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Seville, where she also serves as the Director of the University Institute of Architecture and Construction Sciences. She completed her doctorate in 2010, focusing on quantifying CO2 emissions and energy consumption in construction as a strategy for mitigating climate change. Pilar has directed six editions of the Master's in Eco-Efficient Refurbishment of Buildings and Neighbourhoods and five editions of the International Congress on Sustainable Construction and Eco-Efficient Solutions (CICSE). She has led numerous research, teaching innovation, and knowledge transfer projects, including her current role as Coordinator of the European Erasmus+ NANOER project. Her work is centered on sustainable construction and its practical application to society through education and research.
