Ishaya Gadzama is a dedicated animal scientist and researcher specializing in sustainable livestock systems, with a focus on reducing methane emissions, improving feed efficiency, and exploring alternative protein sources such as insects and microalgae. Currently based in Australia, he combines academic rigour with practical agricultural solutions to address global challenges in food security and climate change. Ishaya holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Animal Science from the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia, where his thesis investigated the use of fresh microalgae in ruminant nutrition, rumen fermentation, and meat quality. He earned an MSc in Animal Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria, and a Bachelor of Agriculture from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. His academic journey includes advanced training at Wageningen University and Research (Netherlands) and an International Diploma in Animal Feed Production from Aeres Training Centre, Barneveld, Netherlands. As a Research Scientist at Nigeria’s National Animal Production Research Institute (2014–2024), Ishaya led studies on dairy cattle nutrition and sustainable feed technologies, authoring 90+ peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter, and numerous conference papers in high-impact journals such as Livestock Science (Q1) and Journal of Insects as Food and Feed (Q1). Ishaya is an active member of the Australian Association of Ruminant Nutrition and the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA).
