Prof. Dr. Andy Hsitien Shen is a distinguished Professor at the Gemmological Institute, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, China. He obtained his PhD in Mineral Physics from Cornell University. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Mineral Physics at Cambridge University; an associate research fellow at the California Institute of Technology; and a senior research fellow at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). His research interests mainly include gemstone mineralogy, gemstone deposits, gemology, and mineral spectroscopy.
