Prof. Andreas Vychytil is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria (Division of Nephrology and Dialysis). After his training in Internal Medicine, completed in 1995, he started a fellowship in Nephrology (Board Certification in Clinical Nephrology 1998). Since 1991, Dr Vychytil has mainly been involved in the organisation of the peritoneal dialysis program at the University Hospital of Vienna, which is still among the largest in German-speaking countries. His main research interests cover clinical aspects of peritoneal dialysis, including the management of infectious complications, clinical implications of peritoneal dialysis solutions, peritoneal ultrafiltration in patients with refractory heart failure, and optimization of automated peritoneal dialysis. Dr Vychytil has published a significant number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals, as well as chapters in international textbooks. He is also involved in educational activities in the field of peritoneal dialysis and serves as a reviewer for many national and international journals. Dr Vychytil is a member of various international nephrology societies and a board member of the Austrian Society of Nephrology.
Prof. Klaus Kratochwill has been leading the research activities of the Pediatric Nephrology Laboratory at the Medical University of Vienna since 2007. With the foundation of Zytoprotec, he was also appointed Head of the R&D Laboratory and was involved in all translational research steps in the development of PD-protec™, from preclinical research, via
patenting, to first-in man use. Dr. Kratochwill obtained his “Habilitation” (venia docendi) at the Medical University of Vienna for Medical Biochemistry in March 2015, after returning from a research stay at the Harvard Medical School
in Boston. Klaus Kratochwill is one of the leading researchers in proteomics in PD and has been a full partner of the EuTRiPD consortium.
