Manolis Tsiknakis received a B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1983, an M.Sc. degree in Microprocessor Engineering in 1985, and a Ph.D. degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Bradford, Bradford, UK, in 1989. Manolis Tsiknakis worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bradford and the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH/ICS) during 1990 and 1991. From August 1992 until January 2012, he worked as a researcher (initially as an associate researcher and from 2002 onwards as a principal researcher) at FORTH/ICS. Since February 2012, he has held the position of Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU). Manolis Tsiknakis is the Head of the Biomedical Informatics and E-health Lab, which is part of the Laboratory of Applied and Interactive Computing (LATICe) of HMU. Additionally, Manolis Tsiknakis is an affiliate researcher at the Computational Medicine Laboratory of FORTH/ICS. His current research interests include biomedical informatics and engineering, clinical decision support systems, smart e-health and mHealth services, affective computing, and smart living environments, focusing on issues related to the automatic recognition of activities of daily living (ADLs) and behavioral modeling.
