Dr. Milan Toma is an Associate Professor at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM). He completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Lisbon, followed by various research positions in both industry and academia across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America. Dr. Toma now specializes in AI-Assisted Medical Diagnostics, collaborating closely with medical students and other experts in the field. He is particularly dedicated to mentoring medical students, helping them engage with cutting-edge AI technologies and preparing them for the evolving landscape of healthcare. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Toma serves as the Chair of the IEEE's Long Island Chapter of the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. His contributions to education and technology have been recognized with several awards, including the Dr. Athanasios Papoulis Award for Excellence in Engineering and Technology Education in 2024, and being named one of the Power 25 in Education by Long Island Business News in 2020.
