Author Biographies

Dr. Christos Papakostas is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering at the University of West Attica. He completed his Ph.D. in the same department at the University of West Attica and holds a Dipl.Eng. and an M.Sc. from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Democritus University of Thrace. Additionally, he earned a B.Sc. degree in Social Theology and Religious Studies from the School of Theology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His current research interests are in the areas of virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence, eLearning as well as humanistic and social informatics. Throughout his studies, he garnered numerous scholarships for his outstanding academic performance and earned the "Best Paper" award at an international conference on computer science topics. He has extensively published in international journals, books, and conference proceedings, serving as a reviewer within the research community. Additionally, he has taken on roles as a Guest Editor for a special issue in a renowned international journal and served as a Program Committee chair or member for various international conferences, including ITS, NiDS, WEBIST, SEEDA, SMAP and PCI.
Dr. Christos Troussas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering at the University of West Attica, where he also completed PostDoc research in Software Engineering and Applied Artificial Intelligence. He earned a PhD in Informatics, an MSc specializing in Intelligent Technologies of Human–Computer Interaction, and a BSc in Informatics from the University of Piraeus. He has participated in national and international research projects and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning (IGI Global). He has joined editorial boards for several international journals and contributed as a Program Committee chair or member for various conferences. He has published extensively in journals, books, and conference proceedings, and has co-authored three monographs on personalized software engineering, AI, and augmented reality, released by Springer and IOS Press. He has garnered thousands of citations and received best paper awards in computer science conferences. His research areas include personalized software technology, human–computer interaction, and applied AI. Recognized among the world’s top 2% of scientists by Stanford University for 2020–2023, his ranking is confirmed by John P.A. Ioannidis’s 2024 data update (Elsevier Data Repository, V7, doi: 10.17632/btchxktzyw.7). He also holds a Research Fellow position at INTI International University in Malaysia.
Dr. Akrivi Krouska is Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering, at University of West Attica, Greece. She is also PostDoc Researcher in the field of Intelligent Social Information Systems at the same Department. She has received a PhD degree in Informatics from University of Piraeus (Greece), a M.Sc. degree in “Information Systems” from University of Athens (Greece) and a B.Sc. degree in Informatics from University of Piraeus (Greece). During her studies and research, she has received several scholarships for her academic performance and “Best Paper” awards in international conferences on computer science topics, respectively. She has published extensively in international journals, books and conference proceedings, and has served as Reviewer in the research community. Moreover, she has been Guest Editor of many special issues in well-known international journals, such as Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence, Entropy and Information, and Program Committee chair or member in many international conferences, such as ITS, NiDS and PCI. Her research focuses on Artificial Intelligence Systems, Multimedia Applications, Social Networking Services, Adaptive Software and VR/AR Systems.
Cleo Sgouropoulou, Professor in the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering at the University of West Attica, has a prominent academic profile in software engineering, specializing in learning technologies and research information systems. Her contributions include designing, developing, and standardizing advanced educational platforms, along with authoring numerous publications in top-tier journals and conferences. Since 2018, she has served as Professor at the University of West Attica. Prior to this role, she was a Professor at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens (2005–2018) and held positions at the National Technical University of Athens as an Information Systems Engineer (2002–2005) and Adjunct Lecturer (2001–2004, 2005–2009). Her involvement extended to the Hellenic Open University as an Associate Academic Member (2001–2002, 2006–2019) and the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus as an Adjunct Lecturer (1993–2001). With a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Engineering (2000) from the National Technical University of Athens, along with degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering (1996) and Electronic Computer Systems Engineering (1992), she combines expertise and dedication to research, teaching, and innovation. Her ongoing work shapes the field of software engineering and drives advancements in digital learning environments.
