Author Biographies

Renzo Pepe-Victoriano holds a Ph.D. in Aquaculture and is a professional specializing in marine biology and aquaculture, with an outstanding career in research, teaching, and project development focused on sustainability and optimization of aquaculture production. He is currently an academic and researcher at Universidad Arturo Prat, where he leads studies on embryonic development, larval culture, and larval feeding of fish from northern Chile and southern Peru. He has worked on various initiatives, including projects on recirculating aquaculture systems for rainbow trout farming in the Andean foothills, aquaponics, and embryonic and larval development of various fish species. Additionally, he has served as director in the design of a Ph.D. program in biotechnology and sustainable bio-production and in the implementation of aquaponic systems to address water and social issues in northern Chile. He also leads a research nucleus within Universidad Arturo Prat. His experience includes supervising theses, publishing scientific articles—more than 25 in the last five years—and teaching courses on bio-production technology, integrated aquaponic systems, and fish production. He also collaborates as an international advisor on projects related to the cultivation of marine species such as croaker and sargo. His academic and scientific work is focused on generating applied knowledge, fostering innovation in aquaculture, and training new researchers in the field.
